Ceramic Coating — Autobahn Härt & Keramik X

Day one.
Every day.

A hard, hydrophobic layer bonded over your paint or your film. Water runs off, dirt lets go, and the gloss you drove home with is the gloss you keep.

What it delivers

Gloss that works for a living.

Härt and Keramik X cure into a hard, slick layer on top of the surface. Water beads and runs, contaminants sit on the coating instead of bonding to the paint, and the depth of a freshly polished finish is locked in underneath.

01

Deeper gloss

A corrected panel reflects like a mirror. The coating locks that reflection in, so it does not dull after the first summer of washes.

02

Easier washing

Water sheets off and takes the dirt with it. Pollen, road film and salt air rinse away instead of needing a scrub, which means fewer swirls put in by washing.

03

Bugs, sap & bird droppings

On bare clear coat they etch within hours in the Gulf Coast sun. On a coated surface they sit on top until you wipe them off.

04

Brake dust

Keramik X on the wheel faces, inside the barrels and on the calipers. Hot brake dust rinses off instead of baking on.

How ours differs

Prep first. Then the coating.

Stage 2+ correction · Temerario
01 — Prep first

Only as good as
what's under it.

A coating seals in whatever it goes over, swirls included. So every car is washed, decontaminated and polished before the first drop of Härt goes on. On a new delivery that may be a light polish. On a black truck that has seen a few summers, it is a full correction.

Härt on the body.
Keramik X on the wheels.

Härt goes on over paint or over Autobahn film, so the whole exterior shares one surface. Keramik X goes on the wheels and the brake calipers, where brake dust does its worst.

“After installing Autobahn PPF on every exterior surface, we coated the entire car with Autobahn's Härt Ceramic Coating. Autobahn Keramik X was applied to the wheels and brake calipers.”

Process

Four stages, in order.

01

Wash, decontaminate & polish

Every car washed, decontaminated and polished before the first drop of Härt goes on.

02

Film first, when the car is getting it

If the car is getting paint protection film, the film goes on first and the coating goes over it.

03

Härt body, Keramik X wheels

Two layers of Härt on the body. Keramik X on the wheel faces, inside the barrels and on the calipers.

04

Cure & hand back

Kept dry while it cures, then handed back with the wash window explained.

Questions

Straight answers.

Something we have not covered? Ask directly — replies come from the shop, not a call center.

Ask a question
Will a coating stop rock chips and scratches?

No, and anyone who says otherwise is selling. A ceramic coating is thin and hard. It resists chemicals, sun and the light marring that comes from washing, and it makes the car far easier to keep clean. It is not a physical barrier. Stone chips and door strikes are what paint protection film is for, and the two together, film under coating, is the complete answer.

Can it go over paint protection film?

Yes, and a large share of the cars here get both. Härt goes on over Autobahn film the same way it goes on over paint. The film stays glossier, sheds dirt instead of dragging it, and washes like the rest of the car. The Valhalla was done this way: Autobahn PPF on every exterior surface, then the whole car coated in Härt.

Härt or Keramik X, which goes on my car?

Both are Autobahn coatings and both live in this shop. The usual recipe is Härt on the body, over paint or film, in two layers, with Keramik X on the wheels and brake calipers. On some cars the recipe changes: the 1998 993 Turbo restoration took Keramik X over the whole body. We pick by the surface and the car, and we will tell you which one and why.

How do I wash it, and how soon?

Hand wash or touchless. Skip the brush car wash, which is what puts swirls in. The coating needs time to finish curing after it leaves the shop, so keep it dry and unwashed for the first several days. We will give you the exact window at hand-back. After that, most of the work is a rinse.

How long does it last?

We do not print a number of years, because it depends on how the car lives. Garaged and hand washed is one answer; parked outside by the water is another. What we can show you is the cars that come back for annual maintenance, and we will walk you through what to expect for yours.
